Join Student Partner Lindsay as she introduces a telegram from 1937 sent to Eleanor Rathbone MP from the Naval Officer Harry Pursey at the height of the Spanish Civil War. It tells of refugees fleeing Franco’s forces who may have been lost at sea – a message which is still poignant today. The telegram may be thematically political, but at its heart it is really about people. Lindsay will explore how to read telegrams, Eleanor Rathbone’s life, and how all of this ties into the wider context of the Spanish Civil War.
