Nasty Gnashers & Dreadful Dentures
Location: Tate Hall Museum, second floor
Please note that the Tate Hall Museum will be closed from 30 October - 16 November 2018.
In the Tate Hall museum, you can visit our internationally important display of false teeth!
The exhibition is an exploration of the history of modern dentures, including some made from human teeth! These teeth came from a variety of sources, but came to be known as 'Waterloo Teeth' due to the superior quality of those extracted from fallen soldiers during the Napoleonic Wars.
Our Waterloo Teeth are being included in the Waterloo 200 project, (200 years/200 objects) which will create a free and publicly available, central repository of images on the Waterloo 200 website.
You can also take a peek into a Victorian dental surgery.
