The Decorative Art Gallery displays some of the Sir Charles Sydney Jones collection of 18th and early 19th century British ceramics and Chinese export ceramics, enhanced with silver and drinking ware.
Themes explored in the gallery include the Chinese export trade of dinner services decorated with British family coats of arms.
Sir Charles Sydney Jones
Sir Charles Sydney Jones (1872-1947) was a partner in Mssrs Alfred Holt & Co., a shipping line. He was High Sheriff of Lancashire in 1929, Lord Mayor of Liverpool for 4 successive years from 1938 - 42 and was Liberal MP for West Derby for a brief time. He was knighted in 1937.
The University of Liverpool's Sydney Jones Library is named after him.
